About us

SUWANU EUROPE is an EU funded projected focused on the use of reclaimed water for irrigation in agriculture. The reason behind is that wastewater when treated according to appropriate standards and methods has a strong potential to complement conventional water resources used in agricultural irrigation. The aim of the project is to promote the effective exchange of knowledge, experiences and skills between practitioners and relevant actors of water reuse in agriculture. For that reason, SUWANU EUROPE will create Regional Working Groups between consortium members and relevant actors in 8 target regions that will work to spread the project findings.

Regions

EU regions play a prominent role as innovation drivers and for that reason SUWANU EUROPE will work with eight target regions to boost innovation and knowledge exchange about alternative agricultural irrigation systems. The eight relevant regions selected to promote the adoption of water reuse strategies are: Andalusia (Spain), Braunschweig (Germany), Thessaloniki (Greece), Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Alentejo (Portugal), Po River Basin (Italy), Antwerp and Limburg (Belgium) and Occitan (France).

Outcomes

SUWANU EUROPE is an instrument to accelerate the uptake of research results in the field of using reclaimed water in agriculture. The consortium, led by the coordinator, has identified knowledge gaps that will be covered through a series of documents, reports, courses, learning material, etc. collected in this section. The documents will be available to everyone and can be downloaded.
