DESCRIPTION:Reclaimed water in Callosa de Segura\n\n		\n	\n\n	\n		\n			Callosa de Segura waste water treatment plant\n\n		\n	\n\n	\n		\n			 \nWaste water source\nWastewater coming from 5 municipalities into the wastewater treatment plant of Callosa de Segura. GLOBAL OMNIUM MEDIO AMBIENTE is the company that is in charge of the WWTP. \n\n		\n	\n\n	\n		\n			 \nDistribution System\nThe water is pumped from the WWTP to the fields. Treatments are carried out to prevent algae and microbiological growth. \n\n		\n	\n\n	\n		\n			 \nFarming system\nThe crop grown are fruit trees (lemon and orange – citrus)\, almond\, arable crops\, vegetables (lettuce\, artichoke\, tomato\, ...) \n\n		\n	\n\n	\n		\n			 \nWaste water treatment description\nNutrient removal : Prolongued aeration\nPesticide removal : none\nDisinfection : Chlorination\nSuspended solids removal : Coagulation\nOther : \n\n		\n	\n\n	\n		\n			 \nCapacity\nOn a daily basis 8\,644 m³ is treated\, which correlates to 61\,199 person equivalents. The Irrigator Community uses 1.89 hm³ of reclaimed water on a yearly basis. \n\n		\n	\n\n	\n		\n			 \nExtent of the agricultural beneficiaries\nA total of 2\,960 hectares is irrigated with reclaimed water\, divided over 1\,654 farmers. \n\n		\n	\n\n	\n		\n			 \nCosts\nPipes and pumping station are subsidized by the regional Government. Operational and maintenance costs are 0.092 €/m³ which are paid by the Irrigators Community. Every Farmer in each irrigators community must pay a fee. The fee normally is based on 2 concepts: \n\na contribution to water use services (dams\, state canals\, etc.) from public domain which is collected by irrigators communities and later paid back to the State\nthe inside costs of irrigators communities (personal cost\, energy\, facilities\, etc)\n\n\n		\n	\n\n	\n		\n			 \nType of agreement\nThere is an agreement with River Basin Authority of Segura River to use reclaimed water. \n\n		\n	\n\n	\n		\n			 \nScientific results\n\n		\n	\n\n	\n		\n			 \nAdditional information
